Taxis
Competing for Attention
Project Description
Taxis is a generative artwork consisting of a series of successively produced, 3D printed objects. Each generation of objects had custom embedded electronics which the audience would interact with. This interaction would govern the characteristics of the next generation. At the end of each day a simulation would be run to generate the next model to be printed. The branch with the most touches would maintain its position while the other branches would jockey for a new position, trying to win the most touches. After the simulation was run a new model was generated and a new model would be printed. This process of interaction, simulation, and print would be performed every day for the duration of the exhibit.
