Living Flight Data
The objects in this video were generated from data gathered during a flight from a freestyle drone, specifically, the gyro and motor speeds. The graphs of drone blackbox data have always struck me as having an organic character to them. Naturally, I needed to try and use the data to procedurally create something that felt alive but retained some of the character of the data it was derived from.
The flight controller used in this case was a FlightOne RevoltOSD. The geometry and simulation was made in Houdini with Vellum and rendered in Redshift.
